Social Media Assistant

 

Start Date: late May 2021

Location: all work can be done remotely, GTA focused

Timeline: approximately 23 weeks

Hours: 12 hrs per week

Rate: $18 per hour

 

Job Description

 

The Social Media Assistant will work with the Administrative Director to develop a cohesive social media plan across all of Labyrinth Ontario’s platforms. The main events to be promoted will be live/video concerts in Summer 2021 including participation in the Toronto Art’s Council’s Arts in the Parks program and the launch of the Labyrinth Ensemble in Fall 2021. Additional performance based programming will likely be added. Weekly tasks include

 

  • Selecting and editing photo, video, and audio material from Labyrinth Ontario's archives

  • Creating and scheduling posts for Instagram (posts and stories), Facebook, and Twitter

  • Editing social media content as necessary upon receiving feedback from the Administrative Director and/or artists

  • Responding to messages and interacting with Labyrinth’s audience base via social media

 

The Social Media Assistant will be preparing public-facing text and content describing Labyrinth Ontario activities. Effective writing skills and interest in content creation are imperative for this position as the candidate will frequently interact publicly online with audiences and members of the arts community. Ideal candidates will be self directed in creating content and able to adapt content and strategy after receiving feedback. Occasionally, social media content will need to be adapted for dissemination through email newsletter. 

 

The Social Media Assistant will be reporting progress to and receiving feedback from the Artistic Director and Administrative Director. At times, collaboration with other Labyrinth Ontario team members on tasks or projects will be necessary. Opportunities to be mentored in arts administration career development will be included with this role. 

 

Requirements

  • Proficient in posting and evaluating analytics through Facebook and Instagram

  • Experience in content creation and basic promotions work

  • Self direction, organizational skills, and time management

  • Interest in arts & culture events and organizations in the GTA

  • Basic data management skills 

  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)

  • Basic computer skills specifically in G Suite and Google Drive applications

  • Musical background or other arts background

  • In compliance with Canada Summer Jobs regulations, applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years. 

 

Experience in the following areas is a strong asset

  • Creating email campaigns and general proficiency with MailChimp

  • Basic skills in visual media editing software (ie. Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, etc.)

  • Familiarity in using scheduling software (ie. Hootsuite, Later, Facebook Publishing Tools, etc.)

  • Knowledge of GTA and Southern Ontario arts and education organizations

Job Description

The community Outreach & Research assistant will work with the Artistic Director to identify opportunities for outreach to GTA communities with connections to the music we present. 

 

The main task in this role is to identify relevant and mutually beneficial outreach opportunities within the GTA and across Southern Ontario. Outreach research will focus on identifying performance opportunities, educational partnerships, and community relationships for Labyrinth Ontario, including its flagship Labyrinth Ensemble project. An ideal candidate would be comfortable in self directed research and forming relationships on behalf of Labyrinth Ontario. Ongoing tasks include compiling contact lists and facilitating communications between organizations and the Artistic Director, arranging translation if needed. 

 

The Outreach & Research Assistant will be reporting progress to and receiving feedback from the Artistic Director and Administrative Director. At times, collaboration with other Labyrinth Ontario team members on tasks or projects will be necessary. Opportunities to be mentored in arts administration career development will be included with this role. 

 

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills over phone and email

  • Self direction, organizational skills, and time management

  • Interest in arts & culture events and organizations in the GTA

  • Research skills

  • Basic data management skills 

  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)

  • Basic computer skills specifically in G Suite and Google Drive applications

  • Musical background or other arts background

  • In compliance with Canada Summer Jobs regulations, applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years. 

 

Experience in the following areas is a strong asset

  • Multilingual fluency

  • Knowledge of GTA and Southern Ontario arts and education organizations

  • Basic skills in visual media editing software (ie. Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, etc.)
